Welcome to Skyline Baptist Church

Skyline Baptist Church has been a gospel witness in Killeen since 1962. We are a family of believers gathered each week to worship Jesus Christ, to grow in the Scriptures, and to love our neighbors in Killeen, Harker Heights, and the Fort Hood community.

We believe that the local church matters — not as a building, not as a brand, but as the ordinary, God-appointed place where real people are formed into disciples of Jesus Christ. That's the work we've been given, and it's the work we're still doing.

What to Expect on a Sunday

Whether you grew up in church or have never set foot in one, you are welcome at Skyline. You don't need to dress a certain way, know the Bible, or have your life together. Come as you are.

Our Sunday mornings begin with Sunday School at 9:45 AM, where we offer Bible study classes for every age — from nursery and children's classes to student, adult, and senior groups. At 10:45 AM, we gather for Morning Worship: integrated congregational singing, prayer, and the clear, verse-by-verse preaching of God's Word.

We'll have greeters near the main entrance to help you find your class and your seat. If you have children, we'd love to help get them connected. And if you'd prefer to just slip in and observe your first time — that's perfectly fine too

Our Mission

Our mission is drawn from the Great Commission (Matthew 28:18–20):

Educate disciples in the knowledge of the Triune God.

Dedicate our lives in service to our Lord.

Replicate by disciples making disciples.

Everything we do — our preaching, our Sunday School, our children's and student ministries, our care for one another, our outreach to Killeen — is shaped by those three words.

Who We Are

Skyline is a Southern Baptist congregation, elder-led, affiliated with the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention and the Cooperative Program of the Southern Baptist Convention. We affirm the Baptist Faith & Message (2000) as our confession of faith, believing the Scriptures to be the true and authoritative Word of God, that salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone, and that the local church is central to God's work in the world.

Our Senior Pastor is Dr. Ashley Todd Payne, who came to Skyline in 2014 after nearly a decade of service as a U.S. Army chaplain. He preaches expositionally — walking verse by verse through books of the Bible — because we believe the healthiest churches are the ones shaped by the whole counsel of God's Word.

Our Community

For more than six decades, Skyline has been woven into the life of Killeen. We've watched generations of soldiers and their families pass through this city on their way to and from assignments around the world. We've walked with this community through growth, through hardship, and through the ordinary rhythms of life in Central Texas.

In February 2021, when a historic winter storm left thousands in our city without power or heat, our gym served as an emergency warming shelter for dozens of families who had nowhere else to go. That's not a story about us — it's a story about what the local church is for. We belong to our community, and by God's grace, we always will.
